Super Soup and poppies.

Hello Dear Reader,

We went in Plymouth today to see the poppy installation at War Memorial. There are 6000 poppies in a waves pouring out from the names on the walls. They were moving and we’ll worth seeing. The names on the walls ‘had no grave but the sea’.

If you get the chance there are many of these acts of commemoration around the country.

Our soup was Moroccan sweet potato and chick pea.

2 veggie stock cube

1 large sweet potato , peeled and chopped.

1 small onion finely chopped

1 red pepper finely sliced

4 carrots, finely sliced

1 tsp of cumin

1 tsp of chopped coriander

1 litre of water

Bring to boil and simmer 30 minutes

Add a tin of drained chickpeas.

Continue to simmer for ten minutes.

Poppies and delicious soup. A great start to our staycation.

Until tomorrow,

Love Froogs xxxxx

  1. The vets orgs and auxiliaries sell for a donation poppies to wear in a button hole. I love seeing them. We don’t have the large poppy displays that I know of. Powerful and moving.

  2. I made the very same soup today! I love the kick that the cumin and coriander give it – added some turmeric as well to give it even more of a warm, spicy taste. My apt. smells wonderful.

The city is doing a month long memorial leading up to Remembrance Day – each day new images and names are projected onto a huge screen outside of Old City Hall.
