You’ve got to love a scone, specially if it’s a Mac Millan fund raiser. I used the following recipes times four.
225g/8oz self raising flour
pinch of salt
25g/1oz caster sugar
150ml/5fl oz milk
1 tsp baking powder
1 free-range egg, beaten, to glaze (alternatively use a little milk) – this was enough for all the scones.
Heat the oven to 220 degrees C.
Rub butter into the flour, add all the dry ingredients and stir well. Create a well in the middle and pour in the milk, mix the ingredients to make a loose dough. Turn out onto a floured surface and roll out to 2.5 cm thick. Cut into circles, a glass will do.
Bake on a greased tray for 12-15 minutes.
Serve with jam and clotted cream.
