I always go out on New Year’s Eve!

Hello Dear Reader,

Oh yeah! I always go out on New Year’s Eve!!! To the supermarket! I bought no end of goodies to see the old year out and the new year in. I usually make pizza, and certainly don’t run to flash of Pizza Express, nor do I usually have dips, or salami or shop bought hummous but hey! It’s been the best of years and the worst of years in equal measure. My bill would have been £22 and was reduced to £7! Some will go into the freezer and some will be a treat for a two person party……………well! He is my most favourite person in all the world.

Aspects of my job and my personal life have brought me equal measures of strife and delight. My family have brought me great pride and also, heart break. There have been moments in this year that I will remember forever and moments I will need professional help to get over! Tonight, I’ll put all that behind me and raise a glass to the passing of 2011 and say hello to 2012. This may we herald a new chapter in my life and you can all watch this space to see if it unfolds or not.

All my love,

Froogs xxxx

  1. A Happy 2012 to you Froogs! I think you'll make 2011 as inspiring and successful as 2011. You made great progress to your life goals this past year and you have a lot to be proud of.

I found out the supermarket near us has lobster for $5.99 a pound, so I know what our New Year's Even dinner will be!

  2. Froogs you are truly my inspiration. It's been a tough year for us too and not about to get much easier but like you we will handle it. I leave 2011 with the loss of a friendship someone who has been very abusive by text, enough is enough. I hope to leave 2012 having made some good new friends and kept my old faithfuls. Thank you for all your good words. Ignore the bad. All will be well and all will be well.

  4. You are a true inspiration. I wish you all a very happy new year. It has been a difficult one for us too and will be for the forseeable new year, but hey what the heck we have our health and family. I say goodbye to 2011 having just lost a friend who has recently sent me abusive text so that is sad, but enough is enough, so I look forward to 2012 and hope to say goodbye to 2012 with more new good friends. I too am spending new year at home with my lovely husband, wonderful 14 year old son and his friend. I wouldn't want it to be any other way. Happy New Year to all x

  7. yes i to got some good deals today especially double cream which I made into home made vanilla ice cream.http://www.ice-cream-recipes.com/ice_cream_recipe_vanilla.htm one lot I made I used the cheap sainsbury packet of custard powder and put some vanilla extract instead of the vanilla pod. I made in total x 4 the amount for hardly anything. a real treat.
Happy New Year to you and please continue with your interesting blog.

  9. Happy New Year to you, too. We're still living of Chriatmas leftovers here and also having a 2 person party as the kids are all at friends' houses. Just watching films and snacking on choc mints with a glass of local cider. Looking forward to more of your sage advice in 2012 and thank you for all you've done to help me on my frugal journey through 2011 after my DH was made redundant.

  11. Happy New Year. We always celebrate New Year's Eve with a meal for close family and friends. As I am the only vegetarian I adapted your frugal hotpot from a week or so ago and it was delicious.
I loved scouring the fridge and cupboards for leftovers, making my own cheese sauce and watching it bubble away.
Thank You. I will be making it a New Year's Eve staple from now on.

  12. Happy Happy New Year Froogs!
Spent ours eating crumpets and flicking the vees at 2011 lol – last year has gone though the shredder and into the recycler – new calendars up – forward plans made – no time to worry about things we can't change – getting excited about the ones we can.

2011 was grim – as was my mind-set … life is too short to spend glooming and festering. Next year will be as much about looking for bargains in the flower buckets as much as on the reduced food shelf.

Thanks for keeping blogging Froogs – hope your 2012 (and all who visit here) is everything you'd wish for.
